Digital Driver Coaching

Combining gamification and digital driver coaching it was aimed to achieve an improvement of 8% of customer's fuel consumption
About Digital Driver Coaching
Digital driver coaching has the three major areas in order to motivate the drivers to become better at their driving behaviour.
Lessons : This is the foundation where the drivers learn about foundational good practices for fuel efficient driving.
Quests : Utilising these the drivers can compete with themselves in order to improve their driving behaviour.
Leagues : By accessing leagues drivers are able to compete with other drivers in terms of hacving more activity and having stickiness to the service

challenge
In order to get a high buy in for the product it was very important for the team to come out with a pedagogical concept of gamification that is interesting for the drivers to learn but also fun while doing it. Since this is part of their work, it was a challenge to justify the use unless there was an incentive program from the fleet managers

Outcome
Using a Lean UX approach (Think → Make → Check → Learn), we hypothesized that drivers would benefit from actionable coaching, visible progress, and friendly competition.
Together with product managers, data engineers, behavioral experts, and customers, we explored concepts such as Lessons, Quests, and Leagues, then tested rapid prototypes with drivers and fleet managers.
Through multiple research and iteration cycles, we refined the experience based on real user feedback, validating some assumptions while challenging others
